Agree 100% There is nothing that scares me more than the active pumping of water into and out of the boat for the AC. That is why I keep a very close eye on the system and make sure that everything is water tight. It is one of the systems on the boat that demands super close attention all the time.

I commented on the other forum too just be careful if you introduce plumbing to the pump vent - this is all technically "under the waterline" stuff and thus you can literally sink your boat if it fails and your bilge pump can't keep up or loses power and you're not there. Suggest that any valves / plumbing should be rated for below waterline use if you're relying on it to keep water out... My boat was new to me and I totally forgot to close the sea cock and put the drain plug in the AC pump prior to launch. Luckily I stopped by the boat on launch day to check that everything was ok. The bilge pump was working frantically, the shore power wasn't connected, and water was flowing out of the drain plug of the pump body energetically. If I had not stopped by that day, eventually the batteries would have given out and the boat would have flooded and sunk. As it was, I still had to pump out about 30 gallons of water from the bilge...

Although we have a different AC model, it seems that all marine AC systems are problematic. 99% of the time when the HP warning is shown it means that water is not getting through, most likely because the prime has been lost or possibly the strainer is clogged. Two things: I always close the AC seacock when we go sailing since heeling will cause the prime to be lost. Second, I have made a hose that I use to conveniently get water back in the system. Just get some tubing of the correct diameter and use a hoseclamp on one end to attach a fitting that will allow a standard garden hose to attach. On the other side attach a barbed coupling with a hose clamp. When the prime is lost, all I need to do is detach the tubing from the strainer and attach my tubing to that end. Then I attach a garden hose to the other end and turn on the water. Water should then flow through the garden hose and out the side of the boat. You can even run the AC now and confirm it is working. Then detach the spare hose and hook the system back up and it should be okay. I did replace my pump last year as it looked to be leaking a little oil and I was worried it would fail. We also check the strainer frequently to make sure that it is not clogged with various sea life. Hope that all helps.

ditto on the air. Mine loses prime if I get a decent heel going and i get the HP error as well. I have to bleed the air off using the vent plug at the top of the pump body. |

The pumps tend to stick when not used for a while. With AC switched off, remove the cover from the fan end of the motor then rock the fan by hand until is rotates freely.

It could be air in the system. If so, you will need to open the system to let the air out. I can be done with the system off. Open a hose at the pump or use the bleed screw on the pump if equipped.

I have a Climma MK3 two zone unit and keep getting the high pressure (HP) message. The system runs but there is no cooling. The sea water pump is working and the sea strainer is clean but there doesn’t seem to be any water circulating through the pipes coming out of the pump. Any thoughts?
