I am a new 348 owner (2022 model) and am just now in search and discover mode with respect to the chart plotter. I found the "Device List" in settings and it looks fine except that my vhf radio splitter does not appear on the list. Maybe because it has only to do with the radio and the AIS transceiver and nothing to do with the plotter?? All of the wires into and out of the splitter look connected and the unit does have power. B&G "customer service" keeps me waiting countless hours. Feedback much appreciated.

Congratulations on your purchase!  You may have newer electronics models, but the device list is derived from items the plotter sees powered on the NMEA 2000 network.

In many installations, we will have an AIS unit, an antenna splitter, and the VHF radio.  In those typical installations, only the AIS unit will appear since that it the only one on the network (via the cabling on the bottom of the device).  The splitter and the VHF unit would not be on the NMEA network.  There are newer/combined units where the VHF console also acts as your AIS unit.  If that's what you have, then you that would be networked to the NMEA network and that would be the one you see.

So, hopefully with this description of whether you have 1 unit/devices or 3 units/devices, that might explain why you will only see one on the plotter.

Hi Steve,

AIS splitter is not connected to NMEA2000, so would not expect it to appear in device list.

Hello,
Thank you for your detailed reply!  It really helps. So much better than B&G "customer service"!  And sorry for the delayed response!

Steve, it sounds like you have a similar set-up to mine. 348 with all B&G. On your starboard stern deck (behind the helm seat), do you know if the white domed B&G device is a BlueTooth antenna? I bought an autopilot remote and working out how to pair it...
