Hello Anybody have Hanse 545 (2011) ropes measurments (for sails) ?
Halyards for mains sail and self tacking jib 1st reef, 2nd reef ropes (how many meters) Maain Sheet ropes (how many meters) Boom Vang rope (how many meters) Topping lift rope (how many meters) Thank you |

Following are the details for the lines for our 575 which should very similar to the 545. Main halyard = 57 meters , 12mm, dyneema ST halyard = 52 meters, 12mm dyneema 1st Reef = 34 meters 14mm double braid. 2nd Reef = 48 meters 14mm double braid. Main sheet = 55 meters 14mm double braid (when using the German sheeting system with lines to both port and stbd winches). Vang = 21 meters 12mm double braid. Topping lift = 50 meters 10mm double braid- we found this too short and changed to 60 meters and also too small to use as a spare main halyard so used 12mm dyneema. ST JIB sheet = 40 meters 14mm double braid. Outhaul = 22 meters 14mm double braid.

Generally Dyneema or similar lines are used where you don't want stretch - so Dyneema halyards are considered a benefit because once set to the desired tension these lines do not stretch. For sheets it is thought to be better to have some stretch so you can save money by using double braids. Using thinner lines can reduce friction so using a higher spec lines which is thinner can be better. But you would not need to go to the expense of Dyneema. Sometimes going to too thin a line may cause slippage with clutches. I find Dyneema much easier to splice than most double braids style lines but the cost is so much higher. There are also different versions of Dyneema with different strengths and costs.

I agree with Wayne's reply. I upgraded my mainsheet to 14MM Endura Braid as its a pretty big main and I wanted something with a bit less stretch, however. |

Hi Yeoman, I have the original german and french safety manual for our Hanse 545 we owned from new 2010. No info about lenghts of halyards, sheets etc. Where can I download the owner's manual you are talking about? Many thanks.
