I noticed that the breather pipe (clear plastic spiral steel reinforced) to the water tank had become very dirty inside. The boat is 4 years old and I hadn't expected it to deteriorate as quickly as this. I've now changed the breather pipe.

I also noticed that the fresh water supply pipe (clear plastic spiral reinforced) has a green tint on the inside towards the tank.

I religiously clean the tank itself every year;  I was a little surprised to discover the state of the pipe and wondered whether this is normal? I realise that when the boat is hard pressed (a state I try to avoid these days) the breather orifice may be submerged. Will there be a one way valve in the breather fitting itself? I've never taken one apart.....

Maybe I should add a "pipe check" to the maintenance schedule and anticipate replacing pipes at (say) 3 year intervals?

There is an inline filter (Jabsco) installed for drinking water so we've never had a taste problem.

Is this a commonplace?

I'd post photos if I knew how to do so.

Thanks & regards
