Wondering if it is normal that the Fusion stereo is not connected to the network? I do not see it as a source on the MFD.

Mine is not connected either. It looks like the fusion stereo system between the main unit, the remote and maybe the speakers are on their own network which is not connected to the NMEA backbone. I wanted to do it but seems like it’s more complicated than I thought, especially since now I have to sort out the whole B&G works after the last software upgrade! Ugh.

I've done the connection, it's quite easy. You connect the nmea 2000 to a wifi router, and the fusion dongle behind the unit to the same router too. Then, you have to find the dongle on the network, access the local website for its configuration, configure it as a switch, and kill
the wifi of the dongle to avoid unnecessary redundancy. Now, access to the wifi from the router allows you to control the fusion via the fusion app, the audio appears on the Zeus3 display, and if you want to mirror the Zeus3 or access the nmea2000 network through the wifi it's possible too! |

I have fitted fusion Ra70N to my previous and current Hanse. Connecting the stereo to nmea simply requires that an nmea2000 cable from the stereo is connected to the backbone.
It might be helpful to identify the fusion units you have. There are no dongles in my installation.

Thanks! It is the RA70N. There are three connections to a NMEA2000 backbone. One is the RA70N and I'm assuming the other two are power, and the NRX300 remote. There is also a termination. Can I ask where you connected to the backbone for the instruments? Can I just jumper between as long as one has a termination?

When I looked at this a while ago, I discovered that there are two separate NMEA networks - one for just the stereo, remote and maybe speakers and the main network for the Zeus and the instruments. If the stereo were just sitting there not connected to another (it’s own) network, then adding it to the main network would be easy. Since there are two independent networks, connecting the components becomes a little trickier. That’s where I bailed. Since the remote is in the cockpit anyway, it seemed like more trouble than it’s worth.

I don't understand why it would have been installed with a separate network. Foe me the benefit of the RA70N over the RA70 (without N2K) is that it is part of the main N2K network and can be controlled by the Zeus MFD. However I installed this myself so have no experience of the factory install.

We had Fusion unit connected via Ethernet to our WiFI router. Via WiFi, our Simrad and B&G MFDs could also see the Fusion unit and also iPad App worked too. The MFD and iPad App did little else but allow volume changes and tune radio; couldn't scroll through music on iPod adaptor for instance.
To be honest, it was all a bit disappointing. After a lot of frustration, ripped it out to be replaced by a simple Blaupunkt car radio. Cheers. |

I didn’t get the upgraded sound system. It came with the cockpit remote unit installed from the factory. I’m guessing, the remote needs to be connected directly to the main unit below via NMEA cable. It’s all kind of stuffed in behind the nav station.
