I am looking at all the options at the moment. If money not an issue then theres lots on the market (Google marine generators), i am thinking down the lines of building my own DC generator and mounting it above the main engine. Ive cost this option at around £1500 and a bit of work about 1|3 the cost of going the easy route

Hi Alex,
Yes I did explore the Yanmar solution and I have got some quote: something around 12000€ without the labour cost for the modification and the installation!!!! and for 3kW only. I have now a quote for a IS 3.5 MASE diesel generator around 6000€ all included but the labour cost. I know the Victron energy solution and I find it a good solution exept the pb of the storage of the generator and the fuel either. I would like to go for a fixed installation and I am working to find something relevant. That's the reason why I launched this new topic!! |

This is what I have in my papers:
Yanmar engine flange-generator Electra-230 6 kw complete installed (only with 55 PS Yanmar) 13 690,00 € I am also considering a generator and a watermaker, but I will not install one until next summer. Edited by Adam - 16 March 2008 at 17:19 |
