Our 371 came with a gennaker, but the previous owner has never used it.
Where would you attach the clew? Can I use the sideplates for the chain-roller? Expectation is that it will be used in light-to-moderate windspeeds only… Edited by martijnvdh - 21 April 2022 at 20:46 |

Hi,
I guess there is a connection from your bow-platform down to the stern in order to take the force for a gennaker. If yes, then normally at the end of your bow-platform is an eyebolt to attach a shackle or similar. I'm not sure, but it looks on the picture, that there is already a hole for an eyebolt in the pipe. Thanks Rainer - I will have to check on board if the platform is sturdy enough for this use. It was added by the previous owner (who never used the gennaker) so I'm not sure it was constructed with this in mind.

I believe your Hanse 371 came with a 'gennaker pin'. It least this is what my 2005 H371 came with. It attaches to the oval slot left to the anchor ... looking at the photo it seems to me you do have this (but I cannot tell for sure)
If you have the slot but not the 'gennaker pin', you can order one from Boatoon: from https://hanse.boatoon.com/de/shop/article/5318/gennaker-pins-for-hanse It is very solid: takes a gennaker without any risk of breaking, as it is made for this purpose. I use it currently for code sail, where forces are far stronger: works OK, the oval slot is slightly bent after 10 years of occasionally heavy code use.

So that's what the pin is for, I found it lying around in the boat.
Thank you PekkaL, problem solved

Have a look here: https://www.svb.de/de/batsystem-bugplattform-performance-pb120.html
I'm not sure, if you have the same platform. The platform from batsystem is designed to take the forces for a code 0 or gennacker. BR, Rainer

The batsystem platform looks exactly the same, we also have the telescopic ladder. So…multiple options available for the gennaker, thanks all!

On the bow roller bracket of my Hanse 371 ( 2003 ) # 155 there is a sturdy piece of stainless steel attached. At the end of it there is an opening. On this opening I always attach a block to feed the tack line of my gennaker. Is that the place you intended to attach the " gennaker pin " ?
For using a code zero sail I need some kind of attachment point that is more " out " of the bow of the boat. Greetz, Koen Edited by scarab - 05 May 2022 at 14:27 |

Hi Koen,
Looks like the design of the anchor arrangement was changed over the years. Our 371 is #297 (2005), and has a hollow pipe that will take the gennaker pin as mentioned above (see boatoon link). |

Hi Martin,
I know your boat! 😉 We had a look to it as well but you were quicker! End of the day, we found another 371. On our boat (2004, #186) we have that flat stainless bracket instead of pin-type. I’m bit curious about load and stress from gennaker to fixing points of this part. For code 0 it feels like no-no but for gennaker and light winds, maybe ok. BR, Thomas
