Hi
I have the 470 (2009) and last summer in the windy Med there were many times when we were sailing at anchor and sometimes quite violently. I set a second anchor at 60 degrees or so and this helped and certainly gave me greater assurance that the lurching experienced under a single anchor wasn't going to trip it. I wonder if any of you have rigged a riding sail from the backstay/halyard and what shape/size/cloth weight that was used. Any info gratefully received. Thanks |

Songbird,
Just out of interest, I used to hang a sea anchor off the stern and the tide used to hold us reasonably still, does mean that you need good holding and a decent scope with the chain to prevent dragging but I'm talking English Channel not the Med. I say used to, as it went missing. Either untied by passing boat or the knot came undone ! I've not found a replacement and the drogue I bought in its place doesn't quite have the same effect, helps but not the same.

A google search as simple as "myhanse anchor sail" will pull up a variety of threads on this topic if needed folks. You might also look for mooring by a stern anchor to stop instability at anchor.
