Hi everybody ,
where do you store your liferaft during navigation? (I have the soft "trunk style" liferaft, not in a plastic case ).

We have a plastic case and keep it on deck in front of the sprayhood cfr photo. So far no disadvantages...
I often see the soft bag liferaft at the stern, outside the cockpit.

Assuming that your boat is similar to mine
If you look at the hatch garage that you fix the life raft to you will see that it is held in place with 6 screws 60mm long. Each screw locates into the hull by about 10mm  at the most. If you imagined being in a big sea with a breaking wave hitting the liferaft ( That could happen in the short seas you get off Ostend- I know because I have been there often enough) not only would it carry the liferaft away it would take the hatch garage away making it impossible to secure the watertight integrity of the hull.
That is why I carry mine in the cockpit under the mainsheet track

By the way I will be in Ostend for the Paulusfesteen 09-17 August & again on my way to Holland in September, so perhaps we will meet up at last

Agree with that. Mounting a raft on the garage provides a boarding wave with just the leverage it needs to remove the garage and incidentally the liferaft too. The garage on my 301 is similarly held on by six relatively small screws- it's secure enough for its own purposes but would not mount anything on it more than the solar panel that is already there.

the soft case is not really ment for storage outside. I keep mine in the locker near the steering wheel.

We have the standard bathing platform on our 320. Our soft case life raft fits in the deck space under the seat of the closed platform with its lanyard connected to the adjacent safety eye. Launching would simply be a matter of simply unbolting the platform and pushing it open, OR it could be lifted onto the seat and pushed. The life raft is placed in its position when sailing and here is adequate room to stand in front of it for steering. When not sailing, it is stored in the cockpit lazerette.

Hi thank you Samuel and Bitbaltic,
thank you for your advice. I had the same doubts because the life-raft indeed weighs a lot. I decided to put in 6 bigger screws. I hope this adjustement will be strong enough "to sail the seven seas"...

Would you be able to post any photos of this, as I'm not sure I'm imagining it right?
And also, what raft model do you have exactly?

life raft is Plastimo 4 person in a soft case. It fits in the space behind the steering wheel under the seat. Don’t have a photo at the moment.
