I am thinking of leaving my boat (unattended) in or near Las Palmas de Gran Canaria next year for several months at the end of the summer as I am now planning my approach to the ARC.  Does anyone have suggestions for a quality and safe marina for a 50 footer?

Thanks
Dave

Hi,
There are a number of marinas in the area. We had trouble finding a spot on Grand Canaria so we choose marina Santa Cruiz on Tenerife. The marina has good facilities and is located downtown in the larges city on Tenerife. You have three airport in the vicinity, Tenerife north (20 min), Tenerife South (1:10 hours) and Las Palmas (30 min plan ride to Tenerife North, there are also ferry connections between the two islands)

Grand Canaria (Las Palmas or the southside) or La Gomera is about a day sail away.

Cheers

I have used Lanzerote, Rubicon,in 2008 it is secure and safe.
Grand Canaria , Las Palmas, I have used in 2013, it was as good as anywhere. Historicly there were small security issues but by 2012 the recommendation is it was good.
Look out for Gertha 5 a Little Swan, we are on ARC+ so probably will not meet ;plus my old boat Gertha 4 a veteran of 2 ARCs with me is off for another go under new ownership, however she is also on ARC+ .

Hi Dave
Try Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria. Reasonable prices and its on the sunny side of the island. The surroundings are second to none. Take a look at Google maps.
