How can I route a cable from the mast food ceiling to the switch panel ? I want to install a decklight / steaming light combination . It seems that I need to go along the ceiling, then the 1st step down side wall, next curve to the outer panel ( windows ), down the windows panel, then next curve to the panel above the top shelf and then finally down the hull side. Have tried it with wires from the top and the bottom, but no success so far. Has anybody succeeded to install a aftermarket radar or decklight?

Hi Frank,
I did so for installing a deck light. But I was very lucky. There happend to be a spare tube with a guide wire inside present between the space behind the switch panel and the spot above the ceiling where the other cables coming from the mast foot were connected. So it was a very straightforward job. If you have not done it untill now, check for some (probably hidden) spare tube. Maybe luck is with you. Success. Claude

Merci Claude,
unfortunately no empty tube at all after careful inspection with a endoscope and mirror Even worse what I found when I followed the cables ( Antenna, Wind, Toplight, Steaming Light ). They are unmoveably attached to the deck inner liner, so no way to pull one cable and then reverse. Does anybody have an idea Edited by Fendant - 28 July 2018 at 12:45 |

On our 385 i used two metal springs of the type elecriticians use to pull cable through tubes.
I fitted them with strong magnets on the end on a short piece of string. Then i fed one spring from each side (mast end plus panel end) above the liner, made the magnets connect and voila. |

I did very simple, quick and dirty.
I simply use the anchor light wires and installed an additional 2 way switch at the ceiling below the mast. So now I turn on the anchor light switch at the panel and then decide at the ceiling switch wether indeed the anchor light should burn or my new flood light below the spreaders. Thanks Ralph, this seems to be a good idea. However I have to unstep the mast every winter. Food for thought

So do I. But then you have to open the ceiling cover underneath the mast foot anyhow to disconnect all the other cables.
