Hi

I got at 04 312 whit a sterring wheel.

After a while sailing the nut comes loos. So I have a idea that I’m missing a washer ore somethings else.

Os is its possible fore one of you to take a picture off your wheel asambly.

I have looked at lewamr.com to se if there spar parts bout no luck.

Hi,

I am not sure what the arrangement is like on the 312, but we have a 350 where the wheel is held onto a tapered stainless steel shaft with a brass nut. The nut does have to be done up quite tight with a spanner or it works loose. I am afraid I cannot take a photo as I won’t be on the boat for a few weeks, but there is definitely no washer.

Hi,

We often remove our wheel when in the marina and as well as the nut on a tapered shaft there should be a woodruff key to prevent the wheel rotating on the shaft.  If you are not sure what a woodfuff key looks like ask google for pictures.

I found a link to the Jefa website with details of the wheels and shafts and if you scroll to the bottom of the page there is a video of 'disengagement wheel' but it shows the woodruff key on the shaft at the start of the video.

I guess you have the Lewmar/whitlock piedestal. Normally there is a "nut" that you tighten with a winchhandel. No washer. In the center there should be a wheel lock that you tighten when moored. This must be removed to tighten / remove the wheel.
