However downloaded the Vulcan template and it does not quite fit on the bow roller. Has anyone fitted a 25kg Spade, Ultra or Rocnor ? If so did you modify the bow roller etc.
Will the current windlass Fisherman Pro 1000 handle the weight of chain, 70 metres of 8mm  plus 25kg anchor?

Thanks

I have fitted a 25Kg Rocna. I had a new roller made that has a smaller diameter (38mm) that lowered the shank so that the anchor pin fitted. As the shank was a little longer than the ultra it replaced a small modification was required to the anchor locker lid. This was quite minor.
Also the shank would foul the roller reefing gear as it deployed. I had a simple hoop made to protect it.
I’m not on the boat at the moment but I’ll try and get some photos next time I’m on board.
Cant take a joke, don't buy a boat.

Neil - can you please confirm if a short bowsprit would still clear the Rocna when fitted, please? Would very much like to fit the Rocna but I secure a top-down furler off the bowsprit.

Thanks!

I fitted Ultra 21 with ultra flip swiwel. No change required on 418. It was straghtforward replacement.

Thanks I looked at the Ultra 21 and there does not seem to be any indication of weight of the boat versus required size of anchor, whereas Rocna and others take the weight as well as length into account. Does your Ultra handle high winds shear etc with a fast reset ?
I am just trying to draw a template for a Spade to see if that fits on the original bow fitting. Reasons for Vulcan versus original Rocna are to be able to use Code zero and other sails off the bow sprit - which will foul the roll bar. Another downside of the Vulcan is that it can not be pinned onto the roller at sea . So its back to the drawing board .

 Guys,

I asked Iain, in another thread, for a picture of a Rocna on the H400 bowroller.
Just realized silverlining already posted one.

There are discussions about the Rocna messing with the gennaker on the short/std. bowsprit.

Does any of you have good experience, can you fly the gennaker of the short bowspirit with a Rocna on the roller?

Best regards,
Peter

And to add in another consideration, we fitted a Sarca Excel No 5 at 22kg to our 418.  Fitted like a glove and very happy.

I have also fitted Ultra 21kg and Ultra swivel on my 400, prior to that had a 20kg Rocna. The Ultra anchor is a great fit and plenty of anchor for a 40" boat.

I use single snubber in light winds but move to a double snubber bridle in a blow 14mm nylon from each forward deck cleat to take all of the load and no load on bow roller at all.
