Hi All,

I have a question about a leakage  in the Hanse 350 of my father in law.

He has water above the closet above the chart table (see pictures below). The water looks like it is coming in right in the left corner. It is difficult to isolate since everything is clued together.

Does anyone know where this water might be coming from? Is it possible to remove the closet?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Samba

Do you have any photos from outside?

Some 350’s were built with a faulty window bonding system where the primer supplied to Hanse degraded under UV causing it to fail.

I am pretty confident it would have happened by now and replaced long ago by your dealership but worth checking

Kind regards

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the reply. The boat was bought second hand two years ago. I just heard that the window was indeed leaking and yard only removed the kit from the outside and re-kitted the window. So the window was not removed.

Do you know how to remove this window best. Do all windows need to be kitted again?

I have my father in law check with the previous owner to find out it this has already been done.

Kind regards,

Michiel

Hi Michiel

The solution to this issue was to remove from the outside and re-fit with a different primer and bonding product from Sika.

It might have been done previously but a new leak appeared.

We found the best solution was to install a new window as trying to remove the old without damaging was too time consuming

Please remember that it may be possible to solve the leak with this window in place and just a better sealing bead.

Do you have a good boat repair person locally who can have a look ?

Kind regards

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the help. I have given the name of a good boat repair person to my father in law to help him out.

Kind regards,

Michiel
