I'm trying to upgrade the insulation on my H455.

I've seen (and thank you for) the posts about how to actually insulate the cold box.

However I'd like to know if anyone has attempted to access the refrigerator area from the panel immediately in front of it - ie the panel that is revealed when the back rest is removed.

I'm going to attempt to post a photo. A square in the white panel has been cut out as marked - but cannot be removed. Is it stuck in place with adhesive - or foam filler perhaps?

I don't know if anyone else has attempted to gain access this way. If so I'd really like to know what is behind this panel and holding it in place.

Many thanks

Richard

On my 341, there was about a 4cm gap between that panel and the insulation of the fridge.  I cannot remember seeing any easy way to remove that overall panel, so I assumed it was stuck somehow.

I was able to access, with difficulty, the gap between the fridge and the panel from the cupboard under the sink.  I managed to stick some PIR foam on the front (bow) side of the fridge and then put a sheet of PIR insulation right across the inner surface of the fridge area.  However, this meant I had a pocket of air trapped between the fridge and that seat back panel, and this air pocket cooled over time, then cooled the seat back and I started to see condensation on the seat back and on the seat cushion.  so I had to remove a small amount of insulation to introduce some air flow.

To my mind the moral is the insulation has either to fill the gap between the fridge and the seat back completely, or the insulation should be mounted on the seat back and if there is any air gap it is between that insulation and the fridge insulation.
