We have never used the stern shower and given our sailing area is Scotland, can’t see this changing. Ideally I’d like to be able to isolate the pipes to the shower but the T joint appears to be inside the port side sealed compartment. Is there any way to access the pipe work there? With the system currently drained, it feels like a good opportunity to do this if it is possible.

The stern shower does come in useful sometimes for washing mud off boots etc if you have been ashore in a dinghy.  However you are right to be wanting to do something, as the Plastimo plastic shower heads can crack easily if frozen and on one occasion did start to leak water back into the yacht.  My solution was to mount a quarter turn valve at the location where the flexible pipe starts and this is normally switched off.

Thanks for this advice. Yes, I can see that it makes sense to have fresh water available in the cockpit. For the time being, I have screwed blanking caps on to the ends of the thicker hot and cold pipes where they connect to the mixer. I do, however, like the idea of a shut off valve and will explore that solution as we prepare for the new season. Thank you, appreciate the suggestion.
