Hello everyone, I recently purchased a Hanse 545 with a Yanmar 4JH4-HTE driving a flexofold 3 blade prop. I would like to purchase a maxprop 4 or 5 blade prop, but I am currently away from the boat and can't find the answers to the following questions from Maxprop:

1. Shaft diameter?
2. Marine gear model number and gear ratio?
3. Centaflex flexible couplign and thrust bearing model number?

Additionally, what is the stock drip-less shaft seal model number?

Has anyone changed their Hanse 545 prop from Flexofold to Maxprop?

As for electronics, I will be doing away with the Simrad GB40 system and putting B&G zeus at the cockpit table and nav station in place of the existing screens. What size screen will fit in the stock cockpit table instrument housing?

Cheers!
Chris

Hello,
We have a 545#268 from new build 2010
The shaft dia is 45mm
The gearbox is Yanmar KM4A with Yanmar 4JH4 HTE 110 Hp
I believe the shaftcoupling is Centaflex CF-AGM-50-3 45mm
The brand of the shaftseal is PSS
Why you change to Maxprop instead of the Flexofold ?
After 9 year, 24.000NM and +2.000 run hours we are still happy with the Flexofold ,only one issue, sometimes a bang when we go in to gear but than we know the prop is ready for the jobWink

Hi Wild, thanks for the response.

I believe my flexofold has a bit of electrolysis that’s adding some vibration while motoring. A friend recently installed a maxprop 4 blade on his boat (j160) with same yanmar we have and said it was extremely smooth compared to his 3 blade prop, and I would like a spare prop.

As for the thrust bearing, it’s running hot using a thermal camera. I believe it was not greased and may have even had salt water ingress, so I’m looking to change our just the thrust bearing. At the same time I would like to renew the pss dripless shaft seal.

So you know what gear reduction the Km4a has? Does yours have a hydraulic whine to it at cruising speed?

Where do you primarily sail?

Hello Chris
No we dont have a hydraulic whine(squealing ?) noise while cruising.
Do you have checked there is water comming in to the PSS ?
If not ,there will be a squealing noise on the PSS and the shaftbearing will get dry and hot with vibration as result.
Do you shaft have more than normal play in the shaftbearing and is there water flow tru the shaftbearing
when the engine runs?
Just some thought of me.

Hi Wild, have you replaced the original through hull valves on your boat? I will need to do this soon and am trying to get a list together. I’ve had great luck with Forespar Marelon valves on previous boat. Any input on valve replacement?

hello
3 years ago we replaced the orig.truhulls and valves by Trudesign with trudesign elbow.(to get a better acces)
Just only the outlets of the wastetanks and the toilet in the bow cabine ,after 7 years one truhull was broken.
The orig where 5/4 I change then by 6/4 so I have to make the orig holes in the hull a bit bigger.
I plan this year to change all the others ,they are still OK just for peace of mind.
When ?(Covid)I go back to the boat I will check the diameters
