Jstock,
Careful who you are calling British - thank god England decided they could get rid of their problems by sending to Australia.

Haha. Hey I’m 45 percent Brit by ancestry and I do love Yorkshire pudding and Newcastle!

I single hand my 505 often with just a bow thruster, which is necessary for this boat if you single hand, in my opinion. Never saw a need for stern thruster. I like the simplicity of only having to operate one thruster. I’d save your money.

I have both bow & stern thrusters on my H455. I have managed to slot into spaces that would otherwise be impossible - most recently being last week on a pontoon in the Yealm river (Devon) with less than 0.3 metres to spare at the bow & the stern. The bystanders on the pontoon didn't think it would be possible; I wasn't sure either but the boat slid sideways - very slowly - into the slot with the engine stemming the incoming tide.
Having the 2 thrusters really makes everything so much easier. I don't need to use them all the time but they are a great comfort knowing they are there. I had Sleipner SR 100/185T drop down units with remote control (makes adjusting mooring lines from the pontoon/dock easy) fitted by Osmotech at Hamble Point Marina. They provide ample thrust. I hope you enjoy your 458 as much as I enjoy my 455.

I am so to speak in the same boat as Kipwrite. If money is absolutely no object I would get it. But when you can’t tick all the boxes on the order form the stern thruster would be at the bottom of my wish list.
