Hi everybody.

I have recently purchased a new Hanse 348 and would like to chat to other owners of this particular size.

Please contact me on here or privately.

Regards

Is she commissioned yet or is still being built?

We are also looking into purchasing one.

Hi,

I took ownership in May 2019. Before purchasing I would advise you of a serious and onerous servicing requirement if you intend to use the boat extensively each year. The 348 is fitted with a Yanmar SD25 Sail Drive. To maintain warranty, you need to change the oil in the sail drive after 50 engine hours and every 100 engine hours thereafter. The only way to do this is to lift the boat out of the water and drain the oil from the sump at the bottom of the sail drive. (In previous versions of the sail drive, oil could be removed with the boat in the water).

This is extremely inconvenient and expensive. I am retired and quickly built up 100 engine hours between May and September this year. Trying to organise a lift out in a Baltic or North Brittany marina is somewhat difficult and has meant that these passages are going to be difficult to plan.

I would not have bought the boat with the Yanmar Sail Drive SD25 had I known.

My email address is full.circle348@gmail.com if you have any further questions.

Kind regards

Stephen Ward
