I am going to install a 4G B&G radar in the mast. I have seen on other 445 the radar is installed assymetrically on the mast due to the head sail.

Does anyone have the details for the positioning and height of the radar.Smile

Kind regards
Jack

Hi

On our H415, the radar mount is installed asymmetrically and quite high up the mast around the second spreader.  No problem on the asymmetrical mount,  you have to remember to adjust the radar orientation in the plotter to make things line up but other than that it works fine.  Minimal issues with jib, halyards, etc.  Not sure I am thrilled about the height though.  i am actually consider moving it down.  Obviously range is better higher up, but the price you pay is stability of the radar image in rougher seas.  Don't know what other's experience is, but in my experience the mount high up the mast results in quite a bit of movement of the radar in waves leading to a less than stable radar image.  In calm seas, no problem, but in rougher seas anticipate items appearing and disappearing as the radar swings around.

On my 445 Albion the radome is roughly half way between the first and second spreaders and mounted on the front of the mast. We’ve never had a problem with head sail interference but we have the standard 95% jib not the 105%.
