Hey guys. Here’s another one. It’s passive and less complicated. It plumbs into the supply line before the pump. It take sanitizer cartriges. Sanitizes the water as it is pumped in.

Good question. We have a manual heads so feed in the Sanitizer pipe at top of arc before going through wall to heads and it drops down in inlet pipe to just above seacock. This way all tucked out of sight with plumbing and and joins well above water line. If from your previous posts the electric pump is below water line then a bit more challenging as best place would be so installed above water line and feed down sanitizer pipe to just above inlet seacock but pump would be in the way and could only feed down as far as just above pump. Not quite as effective but better than no sanitizer. We flush the heads with fresh water when leaving the boat and can be away for a month and still smells sweet as Sanitizer automatically dispenses every day. Jon

Jon,
Thanks, how long are the disinfectant refill pouches lasting? I see that they are 20% cheaper if you are outside the EU, so prices should come down for you soon! Gordon |

Pouches last us 4-5 month of heavy use and up to a year of light to moderate use with manual heads. Typically replace small 9v battery once a year. Not sure how will perform at 40c but great for UK climate Jon

Hi all,
I eventually found space to relocate the pump and strainer in the area behind the head, under the shelves. In this location the pump and strainer are located above the water line, so there is reduced risk of flooding in the event of failure of any of components. See pictures, before (pump under the floor boards) and after, below. Inspection requires removal of the bathroom shelves. In the original arrangement you could just see the pump and feel the strainer through the valve access hatch. Any serious work required removal of two large floor sections. I did not even know there was a strainer for 18 months of ownership, so any reduction in access seems acceptable. The component count is slightly lower. Pump and strainer are the same but there are two two less short lengths of hose and associated clamps / joiners etc. Gordon Edited by Breathe - 17 February 2020 at 09:16 |

Looks a far better design with piece of mind all above waterline. Jon

Jon,
thanks, I am happy with it. I started thinking about that area after your post about the sanitiser. Thanks for the help. Gordon
