Hi Matt
That does sound low - your current prop must be smaller diameter or pitch. Maybe you can pull higher revs than mine and your fuel consumption should be less at 2000rpm? Flat out High Time only reaches about 3000rpm. I have wondered if we are slightly over-propped.

@Matt
Just to comment on your speed calibration, I also have my boat speed set to 93%. I have the D1-30 engine with a Gori 2 blade folding prop (fitted as earlybird "standard" by Hanse) which gives 6.0kts at 2000 revs and 6.5kts at 2250 revs on flat water and with a clean hull. These figures are using the 93% calibration. The speeds recorded by IM/Hanse and sent to Volvo from my commissioning sail were correspondingly higher. I got bad fouling last season and don't think I was getting these speeds at the end of the year.

Thanks - interesting. Most others here seem to be calibrated higher than 100%
When I collected the boat the log was set to 108% but I don't know if that had been "calibrated" but it looked wrong when judged against slack water or in tides so I calibrated using the measured mile up Southampton Water (albeit with the Southern leading marks missing!). I'll do it again in the spring using the half mile marker if the B&G allows me to enter that distance

With clean boat, I have it calibrated below 100. I do different directions at constant rpm and compared to GPS. Then I take the average to put the correct percentage.
During the season I increase the percentage. I hope it is a correct way to calculate it. |
