Has anyone tried to get the AIS to go to silent mode? I discovered no such switch (and according to the B&G manual you can only do it by installing a hardware switch). So i followed the cable tree from the AIS transponder to the DC switch panel, discovered the 2 wires (orange and light-green) and installed a simple switch to put the AIS in silent mode. It works.....although i do not understand why you cant do this from a settings screen of the Zeus chartplotter.... JD, SY Privateer

Interesting. So you can still receive AIS, but don't transmit?

That is exactly how it works and why it is called “silent mode”
A few years ago I installed the em-trak B100 ( AIS class B Transceiver) on Jutter. I connected a simple on/off switch to the two wires as described in the installation manual.
I admit I seldom use that silent mode. Claude |

I fitted the equivalent switch to my AIS transponder several years ago and labelled it "Stealth Mode".

i know the B&G manual clearly indicates how to do this....its just very difficult to find those 2 wires since the AIS unit has just the connector with the cable running from it. It took me some time to find these 2 wires showing up behind the DC electra panel. An easy place to connect a switch....
