Dear All 385 owners, I’m trying to find a standard manufactured sized, off the shelf, life raft that fits into the dedicated stern space of the 385. Would appreciate any advise. I don’t believe Hanse would make a dedicated space for a life raft that you can not buy a standard life raft for but struggling to find one?

if you search I think you will find several posts on this topic.  I have a 4 man Plastimo liferaft in a valise.  This still gives me room to store two spare gas bottles and my diving mask, snorkel and fins.

Purchased a Seago 4 man cannister 2 weeks ago - still on the pallet, have not unwrapped it yet!!!
I found best deal from

Not all life raft service centres can service them, but I checked first & found that there is one not far from Ipswich that I can deliver it to, so servicing after 3 years is Ok.
I seem to recall that some makes of valise ones (not sure about Seago) need service after every year.

Premium life rafts at Burnham on Crouch (who are very close to me) are agents for another make (forget which one) that advertises a larger liferaft cannister but can pack it in a smaller cannister. It is about £120-00 dearer but better spec. They are also the new UK agents for Lalizaz & Could not confirm the size at the time because they had only just obtained the agency.
May be worth asking, if they are near to you, because it may be better at service time, as you are London based according to your Avitar.
It was useful to me because when my last raft was first serviced they inflated it in front of my wife & she videoed it so we could all see it & she had an idea what it looked like.

hi Samuel,
Thanks for this really useful information and interested in when you unpack it to see how it goes. Actually I am in Montenegro but unfortunately the yacht is in Spain so things are a little difficult at the moment. Servicing, we have several service companies over here but will have to check. Cheers
