Anyone know the RAL code for the red hull of a 2008 H320?

After a little digging it may be 'Sunfast Red' supplied by Alexseal Yacht Coatings. They don't show a RAL against it but an RGB value (164, 0, 12). Put this into a website converter and it comes out with a RAL code of 3000. I'll see if it matches up with the hull.

Sorry don't mean to hijack your thread but I have a Red Hull 320 too. Are you thinking repainting due to gelcoat fading?

No problem Cafemino - no, I've a deep scratch that needs filling and fairing. The gelcoat is fading but I'll cut it back with a compound. Interestingly from the deep scratch I can see that the red coat is quite thick - I had previously been concerned that by cutting it too often I'd go through to the primary gelcoat underneath (I read on another thread that the coloured gelcoats are put on top of the standard gelcoat).

Cutting it not working for you?

the gelcoat goes in the mound first and not on top of the standard gelcoat.

Strange. Earlier posts state that feedback from Hanse at the time was that dark hull colours (eg red/blue) were spray painted onto white gelcoat hulls after moulding process. For lighter coloured hulls (eg light grey) pigmentation was put into gelcoat at start of mould. However, the depth of the red on my 2008 H320 (at least 4mm) would suggest that it ain't paint but gelcoat.

Anyone got something more definitive?

I can't really help you on the colour.  I have a Hanse 385 brochure, that shows that the light coloured yachts had coloured gelcoats, whilst the darker colours were Alexseal paints and on that yacht range the red colour was Alexseal Sunfast Red.

When I needed some repair work done on my yacht, I purchased the supplies from
East Coast Fibreglass Supplies

They do small repair kits and supply coloured gelcoats. I think I bought a colour card from them so I could check out which RAL I wanted.  The colour card is from

I would give Inspiration Marine a call, as they are normally very helpful.

Thanks Martin&Rene - I’ve already ordered a repair kit from East Coast Fiberglass Supplies. They were very helpful and have made up the RAL for Sunfast Red as it’s non standard.

I haven't done anything to the hull as of yet, but I bought it it was already quite heavily oxidised so I'm hoping that I'll be able to compound it back to quite a good sheen.
Theres of resource of on RAL colours on We Sail Hanse website iaddress http://www.wesailhanse.se/370_ral_color_codes.htm

Is the gelcoat repair kit gelcoat paste or just normal gelcoat?
