I have found lots of rope data, unfortunately not for the 445. I'm looking to replace sheets for the Jib and main. Any help is greatly appreciated...

Main sheet is 12mm dia and 48m length or 1/2” and 157’ in old money

Jib sheet is 12mm dia and 37m length or 1/2” and 122’.

The line used is Liros Top Cruising which is spec’d at 6600lbs breaking strength.

That’s from my 445 mk2 owners manual. We changed the lines out for 10mm (3/8”) dyneema blend to reduce friction.

Thanks for your reply, however I´m getting uncertain about the lengths and diameters. When looking at the www.yachtdatabase.com it seems to be different length. Is your reply referring to the halyard and not the mainsheet?

Sorry if the reason for this confusion is my unclear question. Br //Rickard

Guiding dimensions of running rig (for a 455 according to http://www.yachtdatabase.com/en/zzshow.jsp?id=e9c8229e8526c51c2d73daeb8e6830f6)
Length Diameter
Mainsail halyard 43.8 m 12 mm
Jib/genoa halyard 43.8 m 12 mm
Spinnaker halyard 43.8 m 12 mm
Jib sheet 12.6 m 14 mm
Genoa sheet 1 2.6 m 14 mm
Mainsheet 31.4 m 14 mm
Spinnaker sheet 27.6 m 14 mm

The 455 rig is dimensionally different than the 445 so cannot be used as a reference unfortunately. Both the 455 main and jib are approximately 3 sq meters bigger than on the 445.

The specs I gave are directly from my owners manual. I have a 2014 445 with Selden rig. Having upgraded the majority of the factory running rigging I can say they are accurate although my conversion from meters to feet is slightly long as I rounded up.

For reference the 445 main halyard is 45m (148 ft) and jib halyard 42m (138 ft).

All the best

Matt

Thanks, what does your manual say about the length of the ropes for Mainsheet and Jibsheet (not halyard). Best regards

Hi Rickard

Those are the sheet specs I gave you in my first reply to your question.

A follow up question. I find that the 12mm outhaul (clew-outhaul) on my H455 does not maintain tension. It obviously carries a high load at times.

I have no such problem with either the main or jib halyards, both 14mm, for example. There is no "slip" in the Spinlock clutch with them.

I'm therefore contemplating purchasing a replacement outhaul line with the larger size of 14mm.

Has anyone done this? I'm not at the boat - I'm assuming that the blocks etc associated with the outhaul will accommodate the larger line.

Many thanks

Richard

If anyone needs some brand new 14mm endura braid,   I just replaced my mainsheet and a couple of other lines and have about 200' left over on the spool.   Let me know...  I could let you have it for a lot less than most retailers.

Hello Rick

Sadly my monthly business visits from England to Rhode Island ended some years ago. Otherwise I would have paid you a visit!

I've spent many happy days in Newport and sailing with friends in the area. A delightful place.
