Asking about anchors is like asking about favorite colors... Although everyone will argue brands, no one I know of will argue against heavier holding better than lighter. We have a 45kg Ultra stainless with 100M of stainless chain and have been happy with it in up to 30kts with mud for holding ground. Beyond that, I'd want two anchors out. I have a Fortress in the bow locker with 50' of chain and 200' of line for those occasions. I usually go with 5-1 even with chain. If I had a 2 roller bow fitting, I'd go with the 66lb Bruce and the Ultra. They nest well on the bow and both are capable of holding the boat in a blow alone. |

For some obscure reason Hanse don't seem to deem it necessary to have two anchors on board as they only supply the means for one.I am not aware that it is even an option for the ability to have two.Taking this into account I would be very interested to know your process of deploying and retrieving the 2nd anchor and the securing of the boat to the rode, chain or otherwise.
You might recall my earlier post of being in the position of losing my 4yr old stainless anchor and chain(as supplied) as a link snapped.I am well converted to having two anchors on board but have not had the opportunity to do it as yet. Best regards Duncan
