Very impressive. I had not thought of that approach, though I am not sure I would have the nerve to have done it. With difficulty, I slid section of closed cell 25mm thick foam into various place around the fridge.
Along the same theme, you also need to ensure the compressor cooling is as good as it can be. You can lag the coolant pipes to and from the fridge. Also, check that there is enough ventilation around the compressor heat exchanger. This is how I improved the situation on my yacht, though I have since changed the fan direction so that it pulls cool air from the bilges and then exhausts it into the saloon.
