Hi,

I also want to install a genoa car in my Hanse 385 and I need some help. Can anyone who has done it answer this questions?

- Wich genoa track brand did you choose and what length?
- Its enought self-tapping screws or you need an internal nut attached to the reinforcement plate?
-Did you have any problem with the passageway for the ropes to the cockpit?
- Do you have much better performances with a 105% genoa?
- If you can post some pictures it would be great.

Thank you for your help.

Hi

The riggers fitted Harken tracks and fittings on my 385.

The length was I think determined by the dimensions of the deck reinforcement that is in place to take the tracks.

The adjustment lines where fitted under the deck coaling and back to under the spray hood

The bigger genoa significantly improved performance.

Racetec Rigging Portsmouth fitted the tracks and I used Rolly Tasker UK for the genoa.

Let me know if you have anymore questions. I’ll post photos to follow.

Hi - I saw pics of your installation on Racetec’s website and think I looks really nice. I loved the way the control lines went through the deck. I just wondered how the tracks are secured because it looks like they are fixed direct to the halliard cover. Is there any extra support there? On my 418 it looks like the halliard covers are just screwed on with self tackers. In my case there is no deck reinforcement shown on any plans

I have removed one of these covers in preparation for fitting a slim solar panel on each side.  The panels themselves are just held to the deck with screws which are not very substantial.  I sometimes tie my dinghy in front of the sprayhood using the chrome grabrails which are just bolted to the cover and there is considerable flex.

However in the area forward of the turning block I think the cover lies almost on top of the deck with little gap.  Hanse did offer tracks as a factory option and the diagram showing the reinforcement points suggests that at the outer edge running back to the turning blocks there is an aluminum plate embedded in the deck.

Hi
See plans on the link which shows the reinforced area https://share.icloud.com/photos/09eIrUAGcoaSn-xSxSVkxpiUQ

This is for a 385 but I’m assuming their will be a similar technical diagram for a 418.

I think the tracks were screwed in as is not possible to get to the underside of the area where the tracks are located.

Thanks for your help and pictures.  Do you know how long the screws are and if they are self-tapping?

Thank you again.
