We are in the middle of having an external Yacht Thruster installed on our 385. I am sure there are many of you with this, but wanted to share some pics of the install. The installer at the boatyard seemed very knowledgable and capable. Once the bottom gets painted this week we will do a sea trial next weekend. I am also having the thru-hulls replaced with Tru-Designs. Wonder what others' experience is with the external Yacht Thruster?

hello

I installed a Yacht Thruster on my 400 back in 2015. I  have had no issues at all with it. Performance is excellent - in most conditions need only a short burst to move the bow sufficiently.

One point - the drive unit does not need to be painted with anti fouling or anything else for that matter, at least in fresh water (I’m on Lake Ontario)

Hello Andy,
I intend to buy the same thruster for my 385. Which type did you buy? EX95 or Ex75? 12V or 24V?

Greetings Axel

I have this thruster since 2013 factory installed on my Hanse 345.
It works perfectly with high efficiency and no air/water quirling.
All neighbours in the Marina like it, as it is really quiet. No problem
leaving the berth at 05:00 am.Wink
Like above I have a separate 90 Ah AGM in the bow charged by a
Sterling Bat-Bat charger from the main service bank.
I also have the wireless remote, to which my anchor winch is also
connected.

Ours was bought through Yacht Thruster based in Florida and they call it the 230S. It is 24 volts. I think there is one size larger.

According to the company's data, you should expect to lose 0.1 knots of speed. I figure most of us won't miss that. I don't have enough time with it yet to see if I feel any difference, but others I have talked to say they don't notice any difference in performance.
