Hi ! I’m new to this forum, but have been following the discussions since I decided to go for the 430. I’m now in the last phase before ordering.

Now I have a lot of decisions to make, and hope to get some help here.

Teak deck ? My last boat (Baltic 39) had all teak deck. I find this pretty, but a lot of work to keep it that way. Also I will not have teak if it is to thin and “bad” quality. Does anyone know what type of teak Hanse use on the 430, and how thick it is ?

Simrad pre-installed or install my self ? How difficult is it to do the cabling in these boats ? I can save a lot of money by ordering the equipment and install myself.

Engine upgrade ? Should I upgrade the engine and prop ?

Anything else I should be thinking about ?

Best regards

Hi Sveino,

We know the story..... and that will be worse after, when you are waiting for the delivery.

Our choice were the following:
Teck deck: despite the challenge in term of maintenance, we found that it is definitly different with!!
Upgrade engine with folding prop: Yes
Simrad: We went fot the Ap16 and the IS12 installed. I will install the CX44 inside and not on the cokpit table and will have the radar on a pole and not on the mast.
I ordered the windlass option but made a deal to resell the windlass to install a more powerful one: a 16kg anchor and 8 mm chain are defintily not enough for such a yacht. I went fot a 20Kg Delta and 10mm chain.
We have also ordered the Webasto heater and tha A2 layout (that nobody had ever seen yet!!!)

The boat should be delivered by the next of June (2007 I hope)

We pretty much went with the same setup; teak deck, Simrad CX 44 outside ap16, upgraded engine and foldingprop, Webasto heater

My experience is that boats with most of the bells and whistles have a higher second hand value and sells faster.

One question I have for Alain, is windlass. Why are you upgrading the windlass? We were told by the dealer that the windlass should be powerful enough for  a 10 mm chain and 20 kg possible Delta which we are installing our self. Also, does anyone have any experience with the Delta? .

The boat should have been delivered in early July but is supposedly 3 -4 weeks late...

Best regards Stone

We choose the YANMAR 4JH4 41 kW (approx. 55HP).
