I finally found a way to get the tank out. While doing it I found there was a small leak from the tank vent connection running down between the tank and the front of the seat. It was only possible to see once I had the seat apart.
The spiral wire wound vent pipe is not sealing well on the tank spigot. I tightened the Jubilee clips but it still leaked. I cut a section off the hose, replaced the clips and it still leaked. I wrapped duct tape around the spigot and resealed and it still leaked. I'm out of ideas now if anyone has an idea i'd love to hear it please. Cheers David |

It sounds to me as if it is the tank connector which is not sealing against the tank rather than the hose to the connector. You might want to take it out and reseat it. Maybe try some PTFE tape around the thread.
Sorry to state the obvious, but are you using a small socket spanner on the jubilee clips? Just using a screwdriver probably doesn't get enough torque, and given the issues you are having I would invest in two new quality stainless clips. Good luck Paul

I think I've got to the bottom of it. The spigot is actually moulded as part of the tank and seems to not be well moulded as it is softer than the surrounding tank. When I tightened the clips with a very short socket wrench the spigot actually folded in at the bottom. This may have already been happening and causing the leak and I hadn't seen it. I've now gooped the spigot and reattached the hose. If this doesn't work I'll try to blank the spigot and start again with a threaded barb.
Thanks for your suggestions. David

David,
why don't you measure the inner dia of the spigot and get a copper sleeve which fits. I assume that it is metric. If you don't find it in the nostalgic inch size, any small work shop might turn it into the right dimension. Then you have the spigot reinforcement needed to really tighten the 2 jubilee clips. I would avoid cutting threads into the Polyethylene material. For PE this is NOT a recommended joining method, the modulus of elasticity is too low. Furthermore on PE ( chemical ist a high molecular wax ) surfaces nothing bonds.
