Hi I have recently bought a 2007 Hanse 315 and want to know what material the sliding coach roof cover is made from? It feels like a plastic. Can anyone advise? Thanks

Yachting Monthly always carries adverts for

based in Colchester who supply this type of hatch cover.

On my 341 from 2003, the sliding hatch cover had a wood stop on the front of it to stop it coming out.  I think mainly because of poor treatment by the previous owner, this piece of wood must have come off and the hatch could come all the way out.  Accessing this area on my yacht would have meant removing the mainsheet track and the sliding hatch cover (garage?).  I decided this was too difficult and just fastened two stops either side of the companion way at the end of the track.

I also have a pair of stops to prevent the hatch coming right out. However, after the timber strip ( mentioned above) split, I found that I till needed a plastic section along the back edge to stop the front hatch panel from sliding right under when stowed on top.
NB: I also have a cord fitted to the front panel to stop a crew not used to it, allowing it to slip over the side. Also the top panel can get hooked behind the teak side slides so I can use the cord to pull it out.

For boat glazing (whether glass or polycarbonate), Hadlow Marine in Kent (UK) is a very good source of advice and the owner does good work at a reasonable price.
