My 385 fram 2012 has a plastic dieseltank. The diesel guage braket is also made of same materiale, and it is mounted without any gasket between the two, so there is a leak.
Is there anyone with experience on the subject? Gasket or sealant? Edited by White beard - 02 January 2022 at 20:21 |

I can tell you that our 385 had a leak at the entrance to the diesel tank, but it was repaired prior to our purchase in 2016. The previous owner said it was a mess, but they had it repaired and it has not leaked since. From what I can see there is some sealant around the top of the tank. He advised not to overfill the tank, and we have been careful to not overfill during refueling. Wish I had more info for you!

Thanks AndyS
That was a good reminder you gave me. Of course I have to check the inlet as well. And I think I will go for a sealant solution. Thanks for your answer. It’s a small world. When Covid is over, I shall visit my daughter in NC. |

You should also check the white plastic fittings which connect the fuel pick up and fuel return lines to the top of the tank. On my boat one of these white plastic elbows cracked and developed a leak I thought came from the sending unit gasket, as fuel tended to collect there.
My sending unit has a rubber gasket. Spread some paper towels around all the suspect areas and you'll likely find the leak.
