Hello,
Have someone experience with the installation and integration of an NAIS 500 into the existing electronic of a Hanse 348?  Perhaps some pictures?  Thanks a lot for your support.

I experienced doing the set-up, but the hardware was already installed from the factory. Upon delivery I had AIS visibility but no transmission, so other vessels could not see my Hanse. There was a 4 month delay between taking delivery and getting my registration documents, which I needed to obtain an MMSI number (FCC issued), which I then entered into my VHF. At that point, I noticed there was no AIS transmission, so found our NAIS-500 transceiver located behind panel above the chart table. Just finding that unit took some time as there is zero documentation on this from Hanse. I took the CD provided with the NAIS documentation home and loaded the config program on my laptop. I returned to the boat with my PC and configured my transceiver with its USB cord connection. I confirmed it transmits both with app diagnostic and by seeing my boat on its own chart plotter a short time later, and on the Marine Traffic AIS website.

My follow-up question is:  where exactly is the GPS antenna? Again, there is no documentation from Hanse on this. I suspect it is in the stern of the 348, as I see similar looking devices both on the port and starboard stern corners. The one on the starboard side has a B&G logo; the one on port has no logo. Both look the the sketch of the GPS antenna in the NAIS-500 manual.

I have installed AIS transponders in my 385 and 458.  Very straightforward if you have the VHF splitter installed.  You can locate the device in the area behind the switchboard.  I put mine next to the VHF splitter.  I mounted my GPS antenna below decks but as high up as possible.  Power came from a switch on the main switchboard so I can switch off transmissions when I want to.

Configuration will require your MMSI number.  This is probably done with a USB/Serial connection to a laptop.  If you are in the USA I understand you are not permitted to do this yourself, but in UK/EU you can do this yourself and most devices allow you to make modifications to existing data.

@Dubs2021:  Your dealer should have covered VHF and AIS configuration during your commissioning and trial sail, showing you what to doo even if you didn't have an MMSI number.
Hanse do publish a schematic showing all the B&G/N2K equipment locations with N2K and ethernet cable runs.  Useful when adding new equipment.  You can find this in the manuals section of Sentinel.

Thanks a lot for your messages. I got an offer from a specialist which sounds quite expensive. I will have a look behind the switchboard perhaps their is enough room for the GPS antenna a as well the AIS. Than I can decide to do it myself or I buy the system with the services.

Best regards
