Hi Simon

Yes I still use the original squared box to slide it into. It was important that I can redo all and go back of needed.
First I built a template/prototype in timber. Eventhough I have a tig welder and does stainless welds, I don't (yet) have the skills to make pretty stuff. So another sailor in my harbour did the welding and also got it electro polished. The bar is adjustable with a turnbuckle cut in two in each end.
Here are some pictures:

Would like to add that we need to be able to attach a ladder when mooring to the swedish rocks.
But I did not find a better solution then to have one ofw the 'ears' of the bowspit to stick out. We have a very powerfull bowtruster so I have yet to hit anything with that 'ear'...

That is very impressive. It’s very interesting that you’ve used the original location box and lengthened the bowsprit, by what looks like about 200mm, and that it has been stable horizontally. With the tie bar, do you have it set up to take all the load or is it set to stop any bending once the location box is loaded?

As regards welding, I’m similar to yourself being self taught. I have however the last two years gone to a night class ( not to get a qualification but to make things for my boats) and this has made a huge difference to the appearance of my welds. Previously they looked good at 10m, now after 2 years of ‘fixing and making’ boat parts they look good at 1m. The question is, is this a tenfold improvement in quality or has my eye sight deteriorated to a tenth of what it was?

Thanks
Simon

With age comes beauty...

The rod is pretensioned a bit to pull down. Also to keep the bowspit firm when we step on it.
So no movement at all. We used heavy/thick square-tubing and plates.

H8jer, Niro-Petersen in Flensburg makes a bow ladder for most anker makes.
I have one for my 10kg Delta Anker, it works like a charm.
They are quite pricey, but the make and quality is very, very good. I was lucky to find a used ladder vry cheap.

This is for a 15kg Rocna: https://www.niro-petersen.de/de/stevenleiter-fuer-rocna-anker-15-kg-niro-3-sprossen-1566.html
