Hi,
if you , just like me, have problems to screw/unscrew the sd oil cap, I suggest you to build this special tool..it works !Wink (Much better than using pliers that destroy the cap)

I do not need one for the SD cap, but I do have a smaller aluminium one for the plastic butterfly on the drain plug, on the bottom of the watertrap filter before the engine.

Cptgood, thanks for sharing. It is too easy to damage the oil cap by using unsuitable tools.

Here are some pictures of my even more simple solution. It is made of a 60 mm long aluminium profile 20-30-20x3mm. The grid on the background is 7x7mm.

I may be showing my age, but I used an old box type spanner than had been used for removing spark plugs.  I then cut two slots as in the first picture and put in an extra set of holes for the turning bar.

HOWEVER, the question to be asked is are you overtightening the cap.  I was tightening it hard because I was seeing oil collecting in the base of the sail drive and assumed it was coming from the cap. An engineer even told me that the only way oil could get there was either from the cap or the gear lever arm.  Last year I had the saildrive gaiter replaced and the engineer ( a different one) said that the gearbox input shaft seal had failed and in the process had damaged the input shaft.  Replacing both parts has solved the oil leak problem and I now do not have to tighten the cap too tight.  There is a view, that if you over-tighten the cap, you actually decrease the effectiveness of the O ring.
