Ey up guys!
On vacation with the. Oat.

My enginefan doesnt start when i power on the penta panel.
Doesnt start at all.
I have the d1-30 in my h385 My-14

Where are all fuses located for this fan? (I found the 50 amp fuse on the high current board but that seems fine. Any other fuses involved?
If all fuses are ok, what’s the next to start to fault trace?
Anyone encountered this problem before?

Thanks beforehand.

Hi
This has happened to me several times!
My guess (having done lots of research on this) is the MDI unit has gone.
My boat is on it's 4th (2016 H385) - 2 before my time and 2 with me.
The last one was supplied under warranty.
The first one cost me £500 ish.
Good luck.
Steve

the mdi? Is that really connected to the fan you think?
The motor is running without a problem.

Do you have any power at the engine control panel?  Gauges coming on etc?  If not, my guess is MDI unit.  Do a search on Volvo Penta D1-30 MDI unit and you’ll find lots of information including links to the workshop manual with the circuit diagrams.  My blower is wired into the ignition circuit somewhere and when the MDI goes, the blower is dead.  Volvo know about this issue and with some pushing you’ll get a warranty replacement.  If a Volvo dealer fits it you have another 2 years of warranty.

Hi

Have you tried measuring the voltage at the fan wires?
I have replaced a faulty engine blower because it was dead.
Think it was a Attwood 3000.

Hi  I do not have any problem with the blower, but just wondering if it necessary in Scandinavia? It is a lot of anoying noise from it.
Kind regards

thanks guys for all the support and input on fault possibilities.
Today the fan started. Without any reason really.

…..so i’m sure i’ll be back in the matter, but as of right now it seems back on line.

Moist issue perhaps?

Just to finish this story, our fan failed and I have replaced it, when I did so the supplier asked me if I wanted to stick with the one Hanse had fitted (not rated for continuous use) or buy the slightly more expensive one that was rated for continuous use, which was the same size and fits in the same way.  We all know that there are days with no wind when we have to motor, so I upgraded for a small extra to the better one.  So if your fan fails, make sure you ask about the better one.
