Dear All
I have a factory fitted (2014) stainless 225lt bow tank in my forward locker on Gale Force. It is not a storage tank that can be used to fill main tanks by way of a pump.If the correct valves are actuated then the engine is fed directly from the bow tank and the return is back to the bow tank. By way of the valve settings I can isolate each tank and or choose which ever tank I wish to use. My problem: I am finding now that if the bow tank send valve and return valve are closed and I am using the port side tank some how the return is finding its way to the bow tank which is now filled to the brim and am now wondering what my next step should be. I am also wondering as to how many of you have this tank configuration. All valves are located in the bilge in very close proximity to the tank selector lever and there use labelled. Regards to all Duncan

Hi Duncan,
I do not own a 575 and I am not familiar with your fuel system layout. First, there is a possibility that the valves are incorrectly labelled. You could follow the lines, if possible, and confirm all is correct. However, from the symptoms that you describe and this is a new phenomena, it would seem likely that your bow tank return valve is passing. Possibly, there is also some restriction in your port tank return line. The result being that you are effectively transferring fuel from the port tank to bow tank while running the engine. I would suggest that, in order to lower the level in the bow tank, you open the bow tank suction and port tank return, while leaving the bow tank return and port tank suction closed and run your engine like that. While monitoring the levels in the respective tanks. You can then remove and check the bow tank return valve for leakage and port tank return line for any restriction, possibly a nipped/kinked hose. Best regards Fraser
