hi
the heating in the owners forcabin is absolutely useless, does anyone have the same problem or is it just us.
we thought it was because the outlet was the furthest from the eberspacer but perhaps someone could enlighten us before we contact hanse to sort it out

My boat is a 342 but I had that problem too. The problem is that the outlet is too far away from the heater and the pressure is too low once the heated air reaches the fore cabin.
In the fore cabin the outlet is mounted by the sole and the heated air will not find its way to the foot-end of the bed. I have partially solved this problem by insulating all the tubes and fitting a damper to the main outlet in the main cabin. In hindsight, I should have talked to Hanse about this. I was too quick to accept that the fore cabin was almost not heated at all, considering what I paid for the heater and the extra outlets. Johan |

I have not as yet because I had several other small but irritating things to be cleared up first.
I shall be telling them in the New Year though,I thought it maybe that the water tank is under ,but that is not the case,I have to say I have only stayed on it a couple of times but its always been V cold. Let me know......

I afraid it won't help solve you problem but just for info, I have no problems heating the forecabin in my 461. Flow seems just fine and it comes out nice and hot, certainly enough to heat the cabin up. So much so, I usually only have the thermostat at about 1/2 way, otherwise the whole boat gets too hot. Maybe the heater is a bit underspec'ed? I think mine is the Webasto 5000

I was on my first inspection of my 430 two weeks ago. One of the things I discovered was no hot air in the fore cabin. This was noted as an error, and the Hanse people should look in to it.
Will post a reply when I have got a report from them. |

As I have a 430 on order I will be interested to see how this is resolved.
Having checked the spec and manufactures details on line, the unit should be a Eberspacher Airtronic 5 this is specified by the manufacturers for sail boats from 14 to 18 metres so the 430 falls at the lower end of its range.
This points to installation problems, given experiance with air systems the air will follow the route of least resistance i.e. shortest and least constricted routes of ducting.
The only way to ensure even distribution is to install dampers so that the air flow can be balanced equally to all outlets.
To those who already have a 430 with this heating system to look at, can you advise if there are any dampers fitted in the air ducting or are the outlets adjustable to allow the air flow to be controlled at the outlets.
If the outlets are adjustable I would suggest a bit of trial and error starting with the Bow cabin at 100% open and reducing the outlet openings as you move towards the stern. this will force the air to the bow of the boat.

We have the Webasto 5000 in our 400 and have never had any problems getting the forecabin nice and warm, even on very cold nights. As with Grand Cru, once up to heat we run it at 50% or a bit less and that is fine.
We have outlets in all cabins, saloon and heads and the 430 is not that much larger so I wonder if there is a problem with the installation or blockage in the tubing somewhere.

Here's my two cents.
We had the same situation and my approach was to insulate and/or replace as much of the hosing with already insulated hose. In addition I installed a Y valve in the joint which splits the airflow to saloon outlet and the 60 mm hose going to forward cabin with this setup there's a possibility to split the airflow so that we get some heat to forward as well. It's not optimal but 100% better.
