I had my Hanse 430e delivered in 2008 with antifouling at the Shipyard

I have not been able to find out witch type it is. Anyone that can help in this?

If there is anyone that has used VC17M after the standrad - please advise!

Hi,

We received our boat middle July 2008 from Greifswald with unknown type antifouling applied by the local marina shop. After 6 months we removed it by sanding (extremelly difficult since the antifouling behaved like a sticking glue rather than a dry paint), and following instructions from Hanse we applied directly (without primer-since our hull is epoxy) on the hull  and partialy removed antifouling International VC offshore which is similar to the 17m. The results were disastrous. The new antifouling just lasted 4-5 months. This year we reapplied the same  International VC offshore, but we used a antifouling primer before. We experimented with different primers and selected one of them but I have to visit the boat to remember the brand. . Hopefully this time it works.
We trust VC17m and VC Teflon offshore, since I had them tested for over 15 years on previous racing boats. The trick is in the selection of the correct primer. Whoever suggests that you don't need a primer over epoxy hulls is not right.

Have you tried to contact the company below? As I have understood they do all antofouling painting. At least they did 2009. Mail them, tell them your boat type and production number.

My boat was painted grey with  International Micron Extra, light grey (Micron Extra black and Micron Extra grey
mixed in ratio 1:2,5. Painted with 2 x Epoxy Primer International and 2 x Micron Extra International if its to any help.

I contacted Yachtwerft Greifswald and they said that in 2008 they used International Trilux on all boats. In 2009 they changed to International Micron Extra. On my Hanse 320 from 2009 they first applied 2 layers with International Primer 820. On top of that they painted 2 layers with International Micron Extra.

I´m also considering changing from Micron extra to VC17. International Yachtpaint told me to remove all Micron Extra and then rub the old primer with wet abrasive #180-220. Then apply 2 layers with VC Tar primer. Finally paint 2 layers with VC 17. I were also recommended to apply an extra layer on front of the keel and rudder.

Thanks to all for useful help!
I posted both Yachtwerft and The new HanseDealer in Norway with the question at the time I posted the same at the forum. None of them has replied yet!
Great to see that MyHanse Forum is the place to trustSmile

From the answer in the forum, I will assume that the boat is painted with Trilux as it was delivered 2008.
I have contacted International that confirms VC17 can be painted on top of Trilux witout removing it (as both are Hard antifoulings and not soft like Micron).

Regards
