I have got my new Hanse 345 in April 2015. After a very wet sailing exercise last week (16 hours in 5-6 Bft half-wind) I have found some water (some 100 ml) behind the small maintenance access in the front cabin (under the anchor-chain box). Although it was only a very small volume I wonder if this could be the result of a poor sealed connection which could lead to long-term damages. Any ideas if this could be a normal water volume I have to expect? Maybe I am a bit nervous as this is my first own boat.
Thanks for your thoughts! Armin

Armin,
I have sailed my own hanse over 30k miles in last 10 years. We always have water on board. Some from windows, some from people going below wet, some from joints. I would not be suprisd to get 20 to 30 lts of water below in a 2 day wet passage. Your boat like my boat will not last for ever; a small amount of water is not a problem. I have sailied a lot in the last 10 years and will probably sail a lot more in the next 10 years ; at the end if boat is scrap it is no problem. We could spend 3 times on a Halberg or X; and have a longer lasting boat; but be worse off. Enjoy your boat and do not worry about odd small leak. I pumped out over 100 lts after a 7 day trip in very bad weather. Simon |
