Hello everyone. Did anyone have experience with installing the new Hanse crossover sail on a 418 or 415? I ordered a complete sail kit from Hanse for my 418 that didn’t come with any installation instructions. Also the owner manual doesn’t have anything about this sail installation.

Hi, from what I can see on the internet this is just a new name for a Code 0, you rig the furler off the bow anchor step attachment and hoist with the spinnaker halyard. For this sort of sail I would strongly recommend that you have a bob stay as some of the loads are very high.
If you use the search function on this website you will find many solutions for retro fitting a bob stay.
Enjoy your new boat
All the best

On my 385 I used a giant bottle screw as s bobstay but I don't think that it was needed for my assymetric.  I used the welded hoop on the anchor step for the tack and this was not really strong enough.

You will also need turning blocks for the sheets.  If you don't have the secondary winches you might consider jamming blocks like Spinlock BRS. These can temporarily lock the sheet if you need the primary winch for something else.

I believe that you get what you pay for. I have bob-stay, dynema halyard and a box installed (possibly Shreveport) just above the top of forestay. Sheet is run in through a block just in front of aft deck cleat and then barberhaul at the midship deck cleat (the latter is semi permanent).

the problem is the mast rig that I have doesn’t have enough space between forestay halyard Box and the spinnaker/gennaker box for a 2:1 system. Also they sent me the sail and the furling kit without any instruction for installation. I’ll attach a photo showing the halyard boxes I have on my 418. I have a single halyard box for for stay and a triple combi box for spinnaker/gennaker and forestay toggle fitting. Any ideas on where can I install the 2:1 purchase?

On my 400 i had spinnaker halyard just above the forestay fitting like you, i fitted another Antal exit box approx 800mm higher up the mast and use that for both the gennaker and code 0 making the old halyard redundant. I went 1:1 crank as much tension on as possible then pull backstay on, i find this more than suitable for cruising code 0.

check posts under my username for detailed description of code 0 fitting to my boat.
