Hi,
I was expecting that the inverter may be used to create 220v from the battery, or from the alternator of the engine... But the mastervolt controllers seems to go off when the shore power is removed. Am I naive to expect that you can produce 220V when you're disconnected from the shore power? If it is possible, how to switch on the inverter? I have a knob that can go from shore to zero to generator , i tried all positions unsuccessfully. For clarity, I don't have a generator on my hanse 588. Edited by Pzucchel - 28 July 2020 at 22:11 |

Pzucchel,
I would think you have a Mastervolt Inverter/charger which should when in the inverter mode provide 220V AC power for some systems on board from the batteries on board. It will not supply 220V power to some high ampere circuits like air conditioning, washing machine, dishwasher, water heater. But will power all the GPO ( power outlets or sockets), coffee machine, microwave and TV if you have these options. We have a Victron Inverter/charger so am not familiar with the operation of the Mastervolt but you should have been supplied a manual for this unit. If not Google the manual. If your Mastervolt unit is only a charger then no it will not produce 220V AC power from the batteries.

Hi Wayne,
I suspect you're right again. I probably have a Victron autotransformer too, I simply don't understand how to activate it. I will try again, since what I had thought was a differential current safety switch is probably the way to switch it on. How do you switch on the inverter on your boat? Thanks a lot once more... |

It should be automatic. The ATR has a breaker on it, but my
guess is its fine given that is involved if you have shore power as
well. Most boats will have the Mastervolt
display/control in the nav station for the inverter. You should
confirm its "on". There is a button on the control pad as well as
lights to confirm. There are also lights on the MAXCombi
inverter/charger. It will tell you if its inverting or not. Check
the manual. If you don't have it, I can send it to you. Edited by Black Diamond - 29 July 2020 at 17:02 |

If you have the Mastervolt Mass Combi unit, then the main switch on the unit (not the remote), should be in the up (ON) position. Not the middle (OFF), or down (CHARGE) position. With this setting the unit will automatically switch to invert mode when AC is not present. And charge made when it is present. Also, your AC panel selector switch should be in the center OFF position, and not in the GENERATOR or SHORE position when those are not in use.

BINGO!!!! THE WINNER IS ARCADIA!!!! indeed my inverter was in the charge position, and putting kg the switch on automatically moves into inverter mode when you set the selector Off!!!
Thank you so much all, you surely understand the value of using the dish washer or the microwave when moored....
