Our 2012 385 has an electric Lewmar winch on the starboard side. The switch has a pop-up open design, which means that the rubber button is continually exposed. Lewmar calls it an SX switch. Over the years a tear developed from UV exposure and I was worried that water would get in, so I used some SOLAS reflective tape cut in a little circle to cover the rubber. I thought that was a clever fix but sometimes the adhesive causes the switch to get stuck in the on position and that could be dangerous. So I decided to just replace the switch with a new one. Problem is that Lewmar's "upgraded" switch is called the CHSX, and it is bigger than the older SX models. My switch is close enough to the displays that I would need to drill a major hole to move it just a few centimeters and would rather just replace it with a new "old" switch. Lewmar was not helpful, and the Lewmar rep said to just keep searching the internet and eBay. So . . . anyone else deal with this or know a source for the older, 60mm, SX switches? Lewmar's website makes it very clear that the CHSX switches will not fit in the SX holes. And I have found a lot of websites that still advertise the older SX switch but when contacted say it is a special order from the vendor, and when they check into it they get the answer from Lewmar that it is not available.

Andy,
We replaced two of our switches about 12 months ago and I could not find any SX switches. I was going to replace all four switches but the current position of the genacker winch switch is not wide enough to fit the new switches. So for the time being I have left the old SX switches for the genacker winches in place. The old SX switches have an inner seal under the rubber button seal which does not get affected by sun damage so hopefully they will last longer. The mounting position for the switches for the main winches was big enough to cut wider holes to accept the new larger switches.

UPDATE: After countless hours on the internet I located a new SX switch. I found this on Italian eBay from Nautica Basile. They don't have anymore, but I bet there may be some more out there somewhere. It will take some searching. The exchange of the old switch for the new one was easy, and these are much more robust and should not degrade as quickly.
