Hi Matt
Yes the dealer recommended it to work with the code 0 / furlstrom tobbrace the bowroller. I assume it is the item that W&R have in their price list. Hopefully no issues with anchor but I'll keep an eye out. David

This is how I rigged a third reef on my yacht.
The third reef leech lines stay flaked out in the stack pack most of the time, but are easily fitted on before I do a long sail or if there is any high winds in the forecast.
I am just about to update that thread, so if you look in a couple of days time, you may find some more info. |

David, The davits were purchased through the agent, Windcraft, though they used a third party fabricator. If you went down that path the fabricator would need access to a boat to get the angles etc correct. S&J commented about the spacing, our davits are at about 2.6m spacing. Connections to the 2.4m dinghy as shown below. It works fine, you need to pull the dinghy stern hard against one davit to stop the sway. The ropes at the other end have some angle so that end does not move much. The other option we thought about was to use a spreader bar, but we have not needed that. Photo of the solar panel mounting is also attached. The mounting brackets are aluminium section, so are very simple to cut and drill. The pipe clamps are a standard Bimini component. Looking at the photo, I am due to do some polishing! |

Gordon,
Thank you very much for sending this through, the solar looks more simple than I had thought. I'll see if I can get a similar davit installed in europe. From what it looks like you would need to lower the dingy or duck under it as you leave the boat? David

David,
Yes, getting off the boat in a marina is a bit of a hassle. There is some room on the port side (dinghy bow side). Worst case is a marina with starboard tie up, when you need to get past the stern. We have gates along the life lines so often use those rather than the swim platform. Gordon

the fixing of the solar panels is very ingenious,
a few remarks, how do you close the bimini? because it makes a strong windward catch in ocean navigation? the non-directional solar panels are a problem when crossing the trade winds where the sun is quickly oriented in the same direction of the road and the charging time is limited to 10h to 16h, I also had 300w non-directional solar panels, and the charge was low. I had an aquagen4 hydro generator which was sufficient for the electricity of the car pilot who consumes a lot because always in action with the strong swell. the hydrovane is also a solution for such a long trip and it serves as a spare rudder. Tango,
We cannot close, or fold the bimini without removing the solar panels. That would be a major exercise. It would be very difficult to have any solar panel arrangement where the panels could be easily removed to reduce windage and this is not common in Australia. Is removal of the panels when at sea common practice in Europe?

no, the solar panels are not removed at sea, they are fixed on a gantry so that they can be oriented.
it is necessary that your bimini is fixed in a very strong way in your case I wish you a good preparation of the boat |
