Hi Paul, Good observation. I bought the adapter flange. I will follow your instructions as soon as the US and Canadian border opens, not sooner than July 21st. It will be a very short season. Good wind, Bruno

Following on from and proving the figures in DJGun's most helpful post of a year ago, I 'put my anorak on' and graphed out the fuel levels in the tank (pse see below). This season's use has proved the accuracy. As I've had cases of bad fuel contamination in the past, I include opening of the fuel tank inspection hatch as a frequent element of routine maintenance. It's very easy and quick to do on a 400/370 and there's no arguing about the fuel level you can actually see. If fuelling from a can which I often have to do, I find it much easier to fill direct through the hatch as well (anchored/moored only!).
Bored over the winter, I also graphed out the variables LPH, speed and distance against each other so I've an easy reference if faced with turning the donk on against a strong current or rising wind and I've still a way to go. The results can be surprising. ![]() |

Did your checking come up with the same values as my calculations?
Very happy if they worked out OK. I still don't trust the LED bars on the standard panel, so now I just measure the resistance on the float sensors to verify depth, and use the calculated values to know fuel level. |

Yup, you were spot on and your post was most helpful in removing guesswork from a vital measurement - many thanks. I’ve only ever used the LED bars as a warning to go dip the tank and/or refuel as I like to keep the tank topped after every trip. I’m afraid I’m quite Luddite in that I simply use a dipstick. Suppose I should really fit an accurate gauge but as I wrote earlier, opening the tank is quick & easy, giving confidence in the quality of the fuel. Even the most accurate gauge doesn’t tell you how much cr@p you’ve got in the tank.
