As we are still waiting on a 460 forum do any new owners have any views -good and bad -with their new boats?

hi Ariette,

Just bought a Hanse460.
And indeed also asked the myhanse site to set up a 46 forum.

I know of some issues already with the 460, which are being fixed in the new deliveries.
Hopefully free of charge by Hanse.

regards Leendert

Hi Ariette, congratulations and best wishes for happy sailing. Good request for the forum and I also asked for a 460 site. I would be pleased to knw any defects that the factory have missed.

In October 2021 I ordered hull #104 and I believe it is being constructed now for delivery end of February 2023. Hull #71 is just being handed over so there are a few launched.

I would like to know views on the best sails to add to the factory jib and main. I am thinking about a Genoa or reacher for the second forestay and a gennaker- any comments welcome. Also interested in Bimini and solar panel design arrangement- we plan to have three AGM house batteries and 400 w Solar.

Have fun - it looks like an amazing yacht.

Hi Kiakaha
I will be very pleased to hear your experiences next year- ours is not due until early 2024. We are also looking at installing the reacher. We currently have a 415 which sails well everywhere except right off the wind and we need to use the gennaker which can be a handful in marginal weather. The reacher is reputed to add 2 knots and will be easy to use for short-handed crew.

We are looking at upgrading to lithium and then adding solar- probably 250-300 watts. Can't decide on deck mounted or bimini mounted at the moment - both have pluses and minuses.
cheers

2 things I forgot that I am looking for the factory to offer

1. electric toilet to be upgraded to fresh water model- apparently the sea water one they offer as an upgrade is rubbish
2. Upgrade to Truedesign seacocks. Apparently the skin fittings are already Truedesign but the seacocks are not.
cheers

If you are only going for 200w solar I'd recommend putting it on deck forward of the jib track.
200W is enough to keep a basic setup topped up during the day but you'll need more for long periods at anchor.

Why do you think the upgrade isn't worth it?

Hi Ariette

We have the fresh water model upgrade on our 508 for the guest room, but have since had it modified to dual source(fresh or salt).

Reason was when guest used head, the fresh water pump was under our bed.😤😤.

Also, when you use fresh water, you start realizing how much water some flushes utilize.

We did keep the fresh water option for specially when the boat is on the hard .

rubbish is too strong a word.  For the electric head upgrade. Not great would be a better description. It needs tender care and spare parts on board. The large use of fresh water is a problem and means I probably will go with the sea water version despite its shortcomings

Why not use retractable hose from the sink for fresh water flushing, no need to do anything Tongue

Cheers!

But the electric version from Hanse doesn't use fresh water?!
