I've also heard that the order of the # numbers can vary. However, it is incomprehensible why to read numbers in any order. Maybe the factory adjusts the numbers according to some circumstances, such as the color of the hull, the specifics of the equipment, the importance ... It would be really interesting to know when and who sets the production order and why it is secret. I do not want to dispute its accuracy but do not understand why it is not public information nowadays.

My understanding is that these "build slots" numbers are issued once the dealer has a firm-ish interest from a customer. They may be requested before a contract has been signed so will not always result in a build. I know that I had two build slots requested back in 2014 when I bought Ningaloo as my initial enquiries were with a Portuguese dealer where I was based at the time. I requested a priced spec and next thing I know I was given a delivery date! I eventually purchased through IM in UK.
Whilst the build slots are probably a guide to build sequence I think that some dealers may have greater influence in this than others. Also some buyers may not be in any hurry for delivery so may request a delay in commencing production. The factory will also need to schedule production to make best use of their facilities. I believe they build two hulls did by side and these must be mixed sizes. The hull number is a multi part coded sequence of letters an numbers that identifies the country of build, manufacturer, model and the sequential build number. From memory Ningaloo was build number 351 and hull 295.

Hi, May want to check out the Hanse web site, they released several updates that explain the supply chain issues during Covid and how some boats have had to be stored and re-enter production when key third party items from overseas become available again. This is the latest one but earlier reports add more detail. https://www.hanseyachtsag.com/gb/company/news/detail/2021-03-17-update-on-the-covid-19-situation/

Hi everybody!
Our forum is indeed a good and diverse source of information. Also from this post, many current and future sailors get a lot of information. For me, the picture is clear - we have to wait in line and hope that the Coroona lightning does not hit production. As of now, I see the possibility that my sailboat will be completed in May. I keep my fingers crossed! The shores of the Baltic Sea are short in summer and the weather suitable for sailing is only 6 months, so we have to focus.

Ahoy all the sailors,
Glad to announce that our baby went into production. According to this, other impatient people can also plan the production time of their boats. See you soon on water!

My ancient H400 has hull # 27, this is a part of the number punched into the fibreglass in the stern. In the "Builders Certificate" the full hull number is shown, e.g. DE-HAN K 0027 J 406. The production # is another cup of tea. My boat is #85, quite far from #27 right? The production number is stenciled in hidden places on various parts of the furniture of my boat. To sum it up: YES, there are two different numbers, production# and hull#. :Kjeld

Captain Cook that’s a useful bit of info. We have a 400e hull #31 (built I guess at a similar time to yours) and I’d always wondered why there were different numbers on the various bits of woodwork etc. Thanks!
