Thought I'd make a thread where I talk about what I'm thinking of rebuilding on my newly purchased Hanse 345 2015 mod. (sorry for my bad English, I'm Norwegian myself)

I bought the boat this winter, and it is still in winter harbor in Norway's capital Oslo, but in week 8 it will be ready to bring it home.

We have looked at many Hanse boats, I liked the design very well, but there were a number of things that I wanted to do something with.

The first thing that we realized would be a problem for us was the size of the septic tank, 35 liters is not enough for us.

The other problem was that the boat had no electric windlass at the back. We are often located offshore, and often towards mountains.

There weren't any bow thrusters on the boat either, I know a lot of people think I don't need this, but in a narrow harbor with a bit of wind, I would like to have this

There was also no way to bring a dinghy (Zuzumar 310MX with 9.9 and steering console). So here I will make davits so I can lift the whole boat out of the water. (I'll try my best anyway)

There was no easy way to get off the boat and ashore when we are facing land. (I have to make something here too)

I enjoy battery monitoring, and therefore want to install the Victron Cerbo GX and touch victron 70 to get a good overview, but with this I can also monitor the boat's fluid levels, such as diesel, fresh water and septic.

Feel free to ask questions about how, what or how things are going, and I will answer as soon as I can. But spring is coming to Norway soon, and I have a lot to do to finish before the summer.

Hi Knut.
Sounds like alot of work.Smile

I drove past Olso last week(beware Dane on skies!) and saw that the marinas where almost full of boats. The water was frozen and People were out walking on the ice.
But under most of the boats there was clear water.
Could I ask if it every boat owner or the marina-crew that provide that icefree area?
How do you do it and is it expensive?
If you have any links or pictures of the Subject I would like to know.

Many boats in Norway are in bubble harbours.  It works in the way that they pump air into hoses under the boat that release air.  Then it follows with warmer water from the bottom.  And that way it doesn't freeze around the boat.

Fitting a 310 dinghy with steering console & 9.9 outboard + davits + stern windlass will add 150 kg at the very aft of the yacht. This will ruin the ability to sail a 34 footer correctly (especially at sea). Sailingyacht under 40-45 feet shouldn't have any davit or dinghy hung on her aft !
I have a too heavy/bulky 260 airlock dingy that live (only in summertime) in the locker with its 2,5 outboard !  Already too heavy.
Hanse 345 is a nice although relatively small yacht.  GX Touch 50 is far big enough
As for for a bow thruster have a look at Fendant solution on another H345 (browse this forum)
To ease fore embarking/disembarking Batsystem have some nice solutions
Enjoy your new yacht

Wow - that's a massive dinghy!  However, I'd echo Bruno's comments about the weight at the stern.  If all you're doing is slow day-sailing then that's maybe OK, but if you're into serious cruising then all that weight at one end will quickly introduce you to the joys of 'hobby-horsing' up and down in waves.  Last year I passed a Rassy 36, an otherwise excellent seaboat but which had been loaded with masses of kit at the back end, just bobbing up and down off Alderney barely making any progress while my 'production' boat whizzed past riding the waves nicely.  I gave him a cheery wave but I guess he felt too sick to respond....  Google 'polar moment of inertia' for the physics.  You'll also get increased weather helm, deepen your rudder, increase the water pressure on through-hulls at the stern and lower the boat's angle of vanishing stability.  Everything on a boat is a compromise and you may quite legitimately choose to accept all of this if your type of sailing isn't too badly affected, but you should at least consider the downsides.

Whatever you choose, good luck with the rest of the fit out.  You've got a great boat.

Hi Bruno

That much weight in the back will definitely affect the boat. But we have been out trying to sail with the boat, then we sat 3 grown men at the very back without us noticing any difference. We also have the option of leaving the dinghy at home, but my 10-year-old daughter will probably miss her boat.

I thought at first that the Touch 50 would be big enough, but I will show: Shore current, inverter, shunt to battery bank, shunt to starter battery, solar cells, Diesel tank, water tank, septic tank and maybe some temperature sensors, so I thought it would be more visible with 70 touch.

Hello Knut,
I have a  345 Mod 2013 and made the following modificatiuons:

a) Bow Thruster Exturn ( done by Hanse Yard ) from day one, best invest ever

b) Septic tank clearly too small Angry have installed a 50 ltrs stainless steel behind the panel in the shower compartment ( 2 cabin version) , that makes it 80 lt ton total for the black water. In addition I have a standard 137 ltr tank in the cockpit locker for the grey water (shower, pantry..)

c) Bow Access , did not want to drill holes into the hull to mount a Swedish bat system solution.
Finally I designed a folding ladder for the anchor system:

If you need more fotos of the a.m solutions please PM me

So nice to hear you were satisfied with the bow thruster, I have gone for the new external one for Sleipner/side-power (SX-50)

But I'm very interested in hearing more about your "grey water tank", I guess I don't have this. Where is this in the boat?? and is it 137 liters?? The tank I bought looks like this.

Nice solution you've made with the ladder, but since I'm welding stainless myself, I think I'll make a small platform in front as well.
Something close to this.

Knut,

this is the tank, which was installed by the yard as grey water tank in the port cockpit locker. I have added a rack above it with some drawers and a shelf.

My black water tank extension sits behind the panel in the shower:

it is connected to the plastic tank behind the loo and empties through a deck fitting.

Your bow arrangement might better suit you for the "nordic mooring" when you solve the access for/to the necessary strong reinforcements from the anchor compartment.

If you have the remote for the side power you can easily also connect the anchor winch solenoid to it. So you can avoid corrosion problems with the manual switch into the bow plug,
